IHG and Iberostar signed a strategic partnership in November 2022 (read more here) that created an additional Iberostar Beachfront Resorts brand that would be part of IHG. The partnership excludes Iberostar’s city hotels and those in Cuba.
Iberostar Beachfront Resorts became IHG One Rewards participating at the end of June (read more here) but were only bookable on Iberostar’s website, and awards were unavailable. This has now been fixed.

I decided to check the prices for three hotels in Mexico: InterContinental Cozumel, Iberostar Beachfront Resort Cozumel, and Kimpton Aluna Tulum.
InterContinental Cozumel
Roughly $2K or 187K points.
Iberostar Beachfront Resort Cozumel
Roughly $1,300 or 266K points.
Kimpton Aluna Tulum
Roughly $960 or 80K points.
Conclusion
It is good that these Iberostar Beachfront Resorts have now been integrated into the IHG’s website and its rewards system that allows members to use their points at them.
However, the price in cash versus points appears to be out of whack compared to IHG’s own brands.
The points-to-cash ratio is roughly DOUBLE at Iberostar Beachfront Resorts (less than half of a cent per point) compared to InterContinental and Kimpton in the example above, where you would get more than 1 cent each. The examples are four-night stays, including the fourth-night free benefit for cobranded cardholders.
