My wife signed up for an account November 1st. She stayed the required nights for the IntoTheNights Promo and completed her stays by Nov 10th. Additionally, she signed up for two of the promo bonuses that applied to her (Anniversay and Next Stay) She paid $500 bucks for 3 nights incl. spending $100 bucks to qualify for the 54k IntoTheNights promo. Within one week, she received a call from IHG telling her the account was closed as she was not signed up for the bonuses as they were targeted. She was told she could open up a new account under the same name with a new IHG number and try again, which she did. Needless to say, she is not using any of the above promo codes.

Myself, I am a frequent traveler and have used promo codes that were not targeted to me, but I also stay at many hotels around the world, have Gold status, so perhaps I was overlooked when I booked non-targeted promos as my spending pattern is consistent of a fairly consistent spender at hotels.

These promo codes are now obviously trouble for some. Be careful as one only incurs the knowledge of the loss of points after the account is closed.

How do I know when you add new ones, also do they go to the top of the list? (I have no idea what ‘RSS’ means either)

You never earn points for pure award stays or cash + points with IHG.

We have a stay coming up this week that is paid for by points earned when I opened their CC – is it worth my time to register for any promotions, just in case I can either earn points on such stay, or take advantage of a glitch that might award us points even though in theory we wouldn’t qualify? Thanks.

Each of the account would earn the one time bonus offers.

can u explain why would be better in individual accounts?? I couldn’t get this because I thought it would be better if I book under just one name because that means more stays to accumulate points??!!

In North America you can earn points for your own account for more than one room. You would do better, however, by opening individual accounts for each of the guests.

Just wait for the next Social Flash Sale and/or Point Breaks and you can stretch those points even further!

You could open accounts for each of the parties and use them as your own. (Remember to sign up for the promos!) When you redeem the points, you can be the second guest. There is nothing against this.

You must book a qualifying rates. Most rates on IHG’s own websites are qualifying.

The Entertainment card rate is officially a non-qualifying one, but it may post as qualifying sometimes.

I found this site a few months ago when I first switched over to IHG from Hilton and signed up for all the multiple promotions you listed. The Big Win was awesome and got me 104k points, plus another 80k for the IHG credit card, but all the continuous bonus promotions you listed here has gotten me 201k in the past 60 days! So my grand total in less than 3 months is 650,000 points!! Can’t wait to plan a vacation! Thank you!!
