Platinum & Diamond Point Earnings %:

The main difference between Platinum and Diamond was that Diamond members are eligible for a complimentary breakfast at participating properties worldwide, but only on weekends. Both get complementarity breakfast at Asia-Pacific hotels every day.

While you can earn Silver, Gold, or Platinum tiers by nights only, the Diamond status doesn’t count nights at all, only status qualifying points.

You need 26,000 status points to reach Diamond, which is 10,400 euros spent at full points earning Accor properties.

Accor Plus and ALL PLUS Voyageur/ibis subscription cards come with bonus elite qualifying nights and the ALL Signature with up to 1,000 bonus elite qualifying points monthly (essentially a fast track to Diamond).

Conclusion

It makes sense for Accor to differentiate more between the Platinum and Diamond tiers, and bumping up the point earnings is probably the easiest to implement.

We have received some feedback about the Diamond complimentary weekend breakfast, especially in Europe and France, where hotels have decided and have been allowed to opt out of this benefit, and we are looking into this.

Overall, earning a 10% rebate on your Accor stays at a Diamond level is pretty decent.

The triple points rate is NOT the cheapest one. You need to check and decide if it is worthwhile for you to book. The bonus points represent a 10% rebate on the base rate.

Conclusion

I believe that this is the first offer for bonus points at a specific hotel that requires you to book a particular rate.

These offers are popular with other chains because you are essentially buying the points in the form of a higher rate (those with expense accounts like these rates, as someone else pays for them).

This is pretty standard practice. Paid reservations are honored, while award stays are not.

I am a bit surprised that “ALL” benefits would be honored, but you can no longer earn points or elite qualifying nights unless you credit these stays to Hilton Honors.

The Hilton Honors elite benefits for the Hilton Garden Inn brand are quite limited, as these hotels don’t offer executive lounges. You basically can get an upgrade, breakfast, and a late checkout.

Conclusion

It is the season of reflags and deflags. Owners who are unsatisfied with the brand’s performance are switching in the hopes of attracting more guests with higher rates.

Usually, these arrangements with hotel owners and brands can last for several decades, with a significant penalty for the owner to switch the affiliation and terminate the contract early.

Obviously, these Pullman and Novotel brands haven’t worked for the hotel owner (I assume these two properties have the same owner), and the communication about the switch tends to go out very late and sometimes not at all.

When I was pulling up the images for these two hotels, I remembered staying at this Novotel in 2013, when it also had Fenix on its name. It wasn’t a spectacular back then. I hope that the owner has spent some cash renovating it.

I will at least check out the Hilton Bangkok Grande Asoke when I return to the city in March.

There have been questions regarding the combinability of various Accor products because, in general, if you subscribe to the Asia-Pacific Accor Plus, it takes over your account, and you cannot sign up for other Accor products, but this is not the case with the ALL Signature.

When we have covered these two programs, there have been questions from our readers if the ALL Signature and Accor Plus are combinable because they come with different sets of benefits: Accor Plus with elite qualifying nights and ALL Signature with elite qualifying points.

Based on conversations I have had with Accor, I noted in my replies that it is my understanding that they are, and I have confirmed this as well. Accor Plus members can sign up for ALL Signature, but not ALL PLUS Voyageur or ibis.

ALL Signature was, at the launch, only available for those with a CPF, a Brazilian taxpayer identification number, but Accor later opened it to others too (perhaps too good an opportunity to collect cash ALL members were willing to pay for it).

Status Benefits:

Accor Plus = 20 elite qualifying nights

ALL Signature = 12,000 status points in 12 months (1,000 every month)

Other Benefits:

• Accor Plus has other significant benefits, such as 50% off dining in Asia-Pacific, 10% off room rates, a free night certificate, and 50% off Red Hot Rooms.
• ALL Signature has 75,000 Accor ALL award points in a calendar year (the most expensive version).

The bonus nights from Accor Plus won’t help you to qualify for Accor ALL Diamond status, as it requires 26,000 status points (roughly 10,400 euros spent at brands that award 2.5 points per Euro), and there is no other way to qualify.

ALL Signature, however, gets you almost halfway there, as it comes with 12,000 status points in 12 months. You need 5,600 euros in spending for Diamond or just less than 1,000 euros to reach Platinum, which grants you complimentary lounge access worldwide + breakfast for two daily in Asia-Pacific.

Conclusion

There might be a change coming to the combinability of these various Accor subscription products when the Asia-Pacific Accor Plus is folded to ALL PLUS sometime in 2024.

I actually would have wanted to subscribe to Accor Plus but decided that the ALL PLUS Voyageur discount is better in my case, as I not only stay in Asia-Pacific but elsewhere as well. I also took the ALL Signature during their Cyber Offer last month.

Accor Plus and ALL Signature can be cost-neutral if you factor in the free night voucher and award points you get, + you essentially get easy access to Platinum and a much easier way to qualify for Diamond.

I already have Accor ALL Platinum status until 2050 due to a Fairmont purchase made a decade+ ago, but this ALL Signature helps me to reach the Diamond status in 2024 that otherwise would have been unlikely.
